UNA-USA Urges Obama to Re-Establish the US as a Leader on Human Rights
Jan. 14, 2009 -- The United Nations Association of the USA joined a group prominent human rights groups in encouraging the Obama administration to re-establish the United States as a leader on human rights in the international community. UNA-USA jointly signed on to a letter that urges the Obama administration to seek a seat in the UN Human Rights Council; participate in an upcoming UN conference against racism and appoint a new full-time Geneva-based US ambassador on human rights. UNA-USA Statement on Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza; Urges the United States to Help Implement Cease-Fire
Jan. 12, 2009 -- The United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) called on the United States government to do everything it can to help implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1860, which calls for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza that, among other purposes, would enable critical humanitarian needs to be met by United Nations humanitarian relief agencies in the area.
