West Triangle Chapter Bestows Award

July 20, 2011
The West Triangle chapter of the UN Association of the USA, based in North Carolina, sponsored a contest for high school students on the UN, challenging them to address a problem faced by the organization, like peacekeeping, poverty, women’s rights, refugees, humanitarian aid, climate change and disease.

The winner, David McDonogh, a junior from East Chapel Hill High School, won first prize for his project, “Timor East and West,” which was presented in a PowerPoint slide with a discussion. He received $750, a certificate of achievement and a UN pin.

He was also featured in the NewsObserver, a local paper. To read the article, click here.
