From Acceptance to Resistance: Changing Attitudes Surrounding Violence against Women

UNA Women, an affinity group of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), invites you to moderate a panel entitled From Acceptance to Resistance: Changing Attitudes Surrounding Violence Against Women at an official side event of CSW 57 on Friday, March 8 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of the Church Center, 777 UN Plaza. 

Panelists include:
Charlotte Bunch, Founding Director and Senior Scholar at the Center for Women’s Global Leadership, Rutgers University;
Margaret Owen, Barrister and Founding President of Widows for Peace through Democracy;
Pablo Castillo Diaz, Protection Analyst at UN Women.

The panelists will chronicle violence against women throughout the lifespan and discuss the significant strides that the United Nations and civil society are making to change attitudes toward,  and the reality of, violence against women.  The panelists will discuss violence across the lifespan of women and girls in the context of son preference, rape as a weapon of war and the treatment of widows.
