International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900’s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of new political ideologies.

Take Action in Support of Women

• Join UNA Women, UNA-USA's Affinity Group advocating for UN programs that further women's rights and empowerment nationally and internationally;
• Plan a screening of Girl Rising, a feature film spotlighting the stories of unforgettable girls born into unforgiving circumstances;
• Read the special International Women’s Day series in The InterDependent and share the articles with your network.

UNA-USA Chapters celebrated International Women’s Day by hosting events including: lectures; dinners; and film screenings in communities around the country. Event programming confronted important women’s issues such as: gender equality; women’s health; and human rights.
