Celebrate Human Rights

Sixty-six years ago on Dec. 10, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the first global expression to protect the rights of everyone worldwide.  To commemorate this historic event, each year UNA-USA Chapters across the country celebrate Human Rights Day by advocating for the protection of equality and human dignity for all.

This year’s UN theme is Human Rights 365. As the strongest defender of human rights, the UN works every hour of every day to promote justice and support courageous activists around the world. As your Chapter plans your Human Rights Day activities, we encourage you to highlight this important theme and think of ways your Chapter and community can support the work of the UN to fight injustice where it exists.
