On Saturday, August 25, more than 200 friends and supporters of dental care in Afghanistan joined the membership of the Greater Van Nuys and Chatsworth Sunset Rotary Clubs and the San Fernando Valley Chapter of the United Nations Association, U.S.A to raise much needed funds for the Afghan Dental Relief Project, established by Santa Barbara dentist, Dr. James Rolfe.

The event was held at the estate of one of our veteran human rights activists and valued members, Barbara Pampalone. “Evening in Kabul ” provided an opportunity  for attendees to learn more about the human toll the war has taken on the Afghan women and children and the very life threatening problems they encounter by lacking proper dental care. Participants were generous in their financial support for ADRP and the proceeds from the dinner and silent auction raised much needed funds for the continued operation of Dr. Rolfe’s work.

The evening included an Afghan menu, paintings by Afghan artist Betsy Noorsey, and photos by well known international photographer and professor,  Mrs. Rita Nessian.  The latter donated several of her works for the silent auction depicting scenes from nature as well as human portraits.

Dr. Rolfe narrated a video of the work that has been accomplished to bring dental health to the women and children of Afghanistan and answered many questions posed by the audience.
