How the Greater Lansing Chapter Celebrated UN DayNovember 14, 2012|By Greater Lansing Chapter MSU student Shujing Xu delighted with Chinese music.Our UNA chapter again partnered with Michigan State University in commemorating the 2012 UN anniversary program based on the United Nation’s Sustainable Energy for All by 2030 initiative.The keynote speaker for the October 21st annual UN Day dinner and program was Melinda Kimble, Senior Vice President for energy and climate change of the United Nations Foundation. The October 22 and 23 sessions were held in the MSU Union, Gold A &B room from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Presentations addressed a wide variety of topics including bioenergy research projects at MSU, Canada’s government-private sector collaboration on sustainable energy development and the regional partnership in Sweden’s Vaxjo region to become fossil fuel independent by 2030. Keynote speaker Melinda Kimble set the global context.The conference demonstrated that serious international progress is being made toward achieving the UN’s goal.
