UNA-USA Members Pitch InJan. 20 -- This report updates information about contributions for Haiti from UNA-USA members, including weekend e-mails and a breakdown of what was received since the e-flash went out on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2009, through Monday, Jan. 18:

[Since Monday, another $1,502 was sent, including a chapter donation of $627 from the Greater Kansas at its annual meeting. The total contributions from individual and chapters now exceed $10,000.]

From Thursday, Jan. 14, through Monday, Jan. 18, 15 contributions have been reported from 15 people: 3 Saturday, 7 Sunday, 5 thus far Monday.

Of these,
$1075 for UNICEF - in 9 contributions
$ 375 for WFP - in 3 contributions
$ 3050 for CERF - in 3 contributions
one contribution to an NGO

Totals of the 5 days [with some additional precision/amendments reported in emailed follow up]:
-- 23 total donations for $2,299 to UNICEF reported [plus the $15,000 from Davis Chapter's Trick or Treat proceeds sent in Dec 31]
-- 8 total donations for $1,311 to WFP
-- 10 total donations for $4,450 to CERF
-- 1 donation for $250 to WHO
-- 13 contributions for $1,145 to NGOs
-- 2 people offering to volunteer, one a young man who is definitely going to Haiti in February.

Grand totals reported to me:
47 contributions for $9,455...
This includes 34 contributions totalling $8,310 directed to UN orgs
[excluding the $15,000 sent on Dec 31st by Davis Chapter to UNICEF]

In addition to these numbers which show a responsiveness to the critical needs, among the best stories:

a) Music students helping: the UNA member in Iowa who collected $84 from her piano students;
b) Trick-or-Treat accumulations: $15,000 sent by Davis chapter on 31 Dec to UNICEF from Trick-or-Treat proceeds - which preceeds Tom's appeal and the crisis;
c) Chapter collections:
East Oklahoma chapter president Richard Ekdahl reporting $1000 collected for CERF, which is being sent this week.
Northern Colorado's president Eleanor Dwight notes collection of $500 to UNICEF, collected at Annual Meeting. Sending shortly.
East Bay's collection of $216 at a monthly Dinner-Forum, sent to WFP; will pass the hat again at Annual Meeting this Sunday.
d) MUN collection: Thesil Morlin reporting from Maine about a contribution of $2800 to CERF, generated through the MUN. To be sent this week.

I continue to acknowledge each e-mail message. Thanks, Herb.
