| Global Classrooms: Tel Aviv
About Global Classrooms: Tel Aviv Cognizant of the region in which they live, our partners at the Walworth Barbour American International School help students address Israeli-Palestinian issues. Students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds come together at the Global Classrooms conference to discuss regional issues, and its effects on their future. Tel Aviv has been one of our greatest success stories as it demonstrates the “real world” application of the diplomacy skills we teach. Our local program partners have instituted a special 8th Committee at the conference where they help students – from all cultural and religious backgrounds – address Israeli-Palestinian issues through the art of negotiation and constructive dispute-resolution. This year, a Turkish school delegation traveled to Israel to participate in the conference. The program has enjoyed support from the local Merrill Lynch offices. This year, James B. Cunningham, United States Ambassador to Israel and Sigal Shapira, Resident Director & Global Israel Market Leader helped open the conference while Al Fried of Merrill Lynch addressed students on the topic of Trade and Development. For the fourth consectutive year, students from Israel will travel to New York for the UNAUSAMUN conference at UN Headquarters. UNA-USA is proud to continue Global Classrooms: Tel Aviv, a global education program that addresses the curricular, extracurricular and professional development needs of Tel Aviv students and teachers. The fourth year of the Global Classrooms: Tel Aviv program will culminate in a Model UN conference for participating students on February 14 - 16, 2010.
