The 13th Annual Global Classrooms International High School Model UN Conference (GCIMUN) will be held from May 17-19, 2012 and UN Headquarters and the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York, NY.
The 2012 conference will bring together students from around the world to discuss diverse and pressing international issues such the role of women in peace and security, the elimination of racism and xenophobia, and the effects of atomic radiation. This year's General Assembly regional committee will simulate the 2012 Earth Summit (Rio+20), focusing on climate change, sustainability and the challenges of global environmental stewardship.
GCIMUN 2012 will provide an unparalleled, authentic simulation of the United Nations in a world class setting, and the chance for delegates to work side-by-side with thousands of students from across the country and around the globe.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Asks Young People: What Do You Want for Your Future?
On 17 May, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon addressed students from 23 countries gathered in the General Assembly hall at 2012 Global Classrooms International Model UN Conference.
In the lead-up to this event, as part of the ongoing "Future We Want" campaign, all young people around the world were invited to join a social media Twitter conversation to tell the Secretary-General about the future they want using the Global Classrooms hashtag, #gcmodelun.
