Global Clasrooms: Berlin
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the host of the Second Annual BERMUN2 Conference, is a German political institution established in 1956 as the Society for Christian Democratic Education. Since 1964, the organization has borne the name of the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, whose principles serve as a guideline, mission, and mandate for the Foundation’s work.
International cooperation is a central focus of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Through international activities, the Foundation contributes to promoting democracy, developing the rule of law, and fostering the social market economy.
The international cooperation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation grew out of the Institute for International Solidarity, founded in 1962 as a pillar of the Society for Christian Democratic Education. Today, the Foundation’s 65 worldwide offices are conducting projects in more than 100 countries on four continents.
Nationally and internationally, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation is committed to advancing peace, freedom, and justice by providing political education. Its programs are dedicated to consolidating democracy, pursuing European integration, deepening transatlantic relations, and facilitating political cooperation.
Since 1998, the Academy of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin has been the forum for dialogue on key questions on topics such as politics, economics, religion, society, and science.
The organizers of the Berlin Model United Nations and Global Classrooms are deeply grateful to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for its support in making BERMUN2 a reality. Konrad Adenauer Foundation Website http://www.kas.de/ Navigation
