Ambassador Jostein Mykletun assumed his duties as Consul Generalof the Royal Norwegian Consulate, Houston on August 30, 2010. In this role, he serves as a  proactive catalyst to further strengthen and widen the commercial, industrial, and knowledge-driven bonds between Norway and the Southern Region of the United States.

The Ambassador's skills in business and diplomacy have been developed over the years through a variety of challenges. In the private sector, he served as CEO of Offshore Northern Seas/Stavanger, Norway (ONS) and as Secretary General of theWorld Petroleum Congress.  Besides internal diplomatic roles for his country, he served as Science Counselor at Norway's Embassy in Washington D.C. and was elected Dean of the Science Diplomat Corps and Science Counselor at Norway's Permanent Mission to the EU in Brussels.  

The Consul General received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in Political Science, International Law and Economics.
