Responsibility to Protect and U.S. Foreign Policy and Policy

Seattle Chapter

Wednesday, October 10, 2012
Location: University Temple United Methodist Church, Seattle, WA

R2P has been the basis for justifying military actions in Libya -- arguing for similar actions in Syria – and used to justify military intervention in Iraq, after the fact.

When a government fails to protect its citizens does the international community have a responsibility to respond? If so, in what manner? Hear an informed discussion about the justifications and dangers involved in applying R2P in our world today.

Wednesday Evening October 10 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

University Temple United Methodist Church
1415 NE 43rd Street Seattle, WA 98105
Near the UW Campus

Featuring a discussion on R2P between:

Hans von Sponeck
Former UN Assistant Secretary General
and UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq Centre for Conflict Research, University of Marburg, Germany

Rev. Sharon L. Moe, Superintendent
