"1,000 Days" that Interlink Child Development and National Development

Wednesday, April 17, 2013
Location: First Lutheran Church (back entrance), 1000 Third Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 7 p.m.

Alan Brody worked with UNICEF in assignments in Nigeria, Turkey, Afghanistan, China and Swaziland.  In his presentation, he will describe advances in scientific understanding of the causes and consequences of chronic malnutrition in young children, and the efforts of the international "Scale Up Nutrition" (SUN) movement to apply that new knowledge.

Drawing on work he did in 2010-2011 as a consultant on nutrition communication in Malawi, he will talk about actions, constraints, and possible new communication approaches that could reduce stunting of children's growth, and contribute to longer term economic growth in the least developed countries.
