About the Conference

WIRC is the Washington International Relations Conference, which was formerly known as AUMUNC. It is a Model UN Conference for high school students organized by American University’s Model UN team and co-sponsored by the School of International Service, a top-ten global school of international affairs. This year’s conference theme is Global Transformations: Growing Consequences in a Shrinking World. WIRC offers:

• A three-day schedule that is an easier commitment than the traditional four-day conference
• We replaced the marathon four-hour committee sessions with shorter sessions broken up by dynamic workshops and events
• Our location means that our guest speakers are from Washington’s think tanks, federal agencies, and global NGOs
• All committees debate cutting-edge topics supplemented with professional-grade policy guides
