A Promise is a Promise -

San Diego Chapter

Thursday, May 16, 2013
Location: San Diego, Calif.

“A Promise is a Promise: Time for Action to End Violence against Women!” “Enough is enough,” a refrain repeated by speakers throughout the annual session of the United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), March 4 – 15, in New York City. Participating in many of the more than 200 workshops and panel presentations were twenty-six women representatives of the United Nations Association of San Diego and USD's Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice. Ten of these women are eager to share their U.N. experience and topics related to the theme of preventing and ending violence against women and girls.

Please join these women in a “Talk-Back” from the 57th annual session of the CSW at the U.N. Their topics include: exploring the role of organized crime in human trafficking, ending impunity for perpetrators of violence against women, learning about survivor-led policies to end violence against women, stopping rape, implementing laws (VAWRA of 2013 and CSW57 Agreed Conclusions) and resolutions (U.N. S.C.R. 1325), stopping child and early/forced marriage, etc. Light refreshments served. FREE!
