34 Million Friends of the Women of the WorldInternational Women’s Day Event: Silicon Valley ChapterFriday, March 8, 2013 Location: Cupertino, Calif. Join Silicon Valley Chapter for an International Women's Day event with Jane Roberts, co-founder of 34 Million Friends of the U.N. Population Fund. In her International Women’s Day address, Jane Roberts will highlight the work of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the largest reproductive health and family planning agency in the world. For Jane there can be no gender equality without access to reproductive health. For her, gender equality is the best chance going forward for people, the planet and peace. She will also link gender equality to issues of population, poverty, and the environment. She is cofounder of the grassroots movement in favor of UNFPA named 34 Million Friends. Over 10 years and asking one dollar from 34 million people, the effort has garnered $4.2 million and is still going strong. Jane has been honored by the United Nations Association, by MS Magazine, by Women’s eNews, and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize as part of the 1000 Peace Women Project sponsored by UNESCO. Come one and all to hear an informed and dynamic presentation with questions and discussion to follow. Donations for the evening are welcome.
