Young Professionals for International Cooperation

What Is YPIC?

Young Professionals for International Cooperation (YPIC) is a program of the UNA-USA,the nation’s largest grassroots foreign policy organization. YPIC is a national network of young professionals with backgrounds in law, medicine, philanthropy, government, non-profit, and business, among others, that forms groups within local UNA chapters throughout the United States.

What does YPIC do?

YPIC ENGAGES young professionals in discussions of international affairs, ENCOURAGES multilateral cooperation and PROMOTES the work of the United Nations.

YPIC INITIATES global programs on a local level by attending National UNA conferences that are held at the UN headquarters annually. At the annual conference the young professional NETWORKS with national, world and UN leaders to obtain first hand knowledge to better implement global programs on a local level.

YPIC EDUCATES their local communities on the UN charter, human rights, peace and security, HIV/AIDS and other issues of global concern.

YPIC ADVOCATES for the various programs of UNA and the United Nations. YPIC members organize events that educate and create awareness on UNA programs such as the HERO project and the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals campaign.

Who can be a member?

YPIC members are typically between the ages of 21-40, but support is welcomed from all ages. YPIC aims to represent people from all walks of life and is not limited to those with a career in international affairs or previous experience with the international community. The only requirements are that individuals have an interest in global issues and have a strong desire to make a difference in the world.

What are the benefits of becoming a YPIC member?

YPIC members enjoy all the benefits of being a UNA member. Some of these benefits include invitations to attend exclusive conferences, such as the annual “Member’s Day at the UN,” participation in major U.N. events and the development of contacts with UNA members worldwide. In addition to these benefits, YPIC members network with their peers and learn from top notch experts that participate in YPIC’s Leadership seminars.

Active YPIC members gain experience in event planning, advocacy, volunteer coordination and community mobilization. Members of YPIC also gain a voice in the international community by carrying out global initiatives developed by UNA and the United Nations.
